After the bell today AMAT, PANW, ABNB, COIN, DKNG, GDDY, ROKU & WYNN are set to report. President Trump is meeting with India’s Prime Minister today and is expected to make an announcement on reciprocal tariffs today. There are two key economic reports due out today, Jobless Claims and PPI. The senate votes today on RFK appointment as Health & Human Services secretary. European markets are seeing gains in auto stocks this morning and oil prices are falling due to deescalating tensions on the Russia Ukraine war.

Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will be continuing his testimony on Capitol Hill today. Earning beats this morning from BIIB, CVS & GNRC and last night from GILD, DASH, & AIG shares are trading higher. After the bell today CSCO, APP, EQIX HOOD, RDDT & UPWK to report. Oil prices are falling after last night’s AOI data displayed a big build in inventories.

Bond yields are moving higher as Fed Chairman Powell begins two days of testimony on Capitol Hill today. NVS to buy Anthos Therapeutics from Blackstone for $3.1B. Elon Musk makes a bid for Open AI which was immediately rejected. President Trump to meet with the Crown Prince of Jordon today. Earning beats this morning from DD, KO, LDOS & CARR – shares are trading higher. After the bell today GILD, DASH. AIG, Z, SMCI. & LYFT to report. Oil prices continuing to move higher due to tariffs and recent sanctions action.

S&P Futures are trading higher this morning. President Trump is expected to announce 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum today. On Tuesday or Wednesday he is expected to announce reciprocal tariffs on unnamed countries. President Trump is meeting with the Prime Minster of India this week; trade issues are expected to be discussed. Fed Chairman Powell will be speaking on Capitol Hill on Tuesday and Wednesday. Markets will be reacting on inflation data this week with the release of CPI and PPI data on Wednesday and Thursday. Corporate earnings results are also in focus KO, SHOP, MAR & HUM to release Tuesday morning. The budget reconciliation process remains stalled due to significant divisions within the Republican Party. Oil prices are higher as recent sanctions are creating an imbalance in the global market.

Trade tensions and the lawmaker’s action on the budget reconciliation bill will continue to poise risk for the markets. HON announced that it will be splitting up into 3 separate companies. This morning markets will likely react to economic reports on Preliminary Productivity and Costs for 4Q and the Weekly Jobless Claims data. Oil prices are down due to the API inventory data which indicated a build in inventories.

Chinese regulators are said to be reviewing the business practices of major tech firms (AAPL, GOOG, INTC & NVDA). The U.S Postal Service has suspended the acceptance of inbound parcels from China which is causing weakness in Chinese retailors. Talks are expected between Trump & XI in the coming days. GOOG, AMD, MDLZ & UBER are lower after earnings releases. After the bell today, ARM, QCOM, MSTR, MCK & F will be releasing. ADP Employment data is on tap this morning before the opening bell. RFK moved closer to confirmation which is creating volatility in vaccine and food stocks. Nissan may pull out of its merger with Honda. Oil prices are down due to the API inventory data which indicated a build in inventories.

S&P Futures are showing weakness this morning with as trade tension remains the key narrative. China responded to Trump’s tariffs with a series of retaliatory measures. China’s regulatory body said it would begin an antitrust investigation into Google over alleged anti-competitive market behavior.
Talks are expected between Trump & XI in the coming days. After the bell today watch for earnings from AMD, AMGN GOOG, & SNAP. Two economic reports out today, the JOLT’s report and Factory orders. The White House is said to be considering actions to dismantle the Dept of Education. European markets are lower with trade tensions remain the key focus. Oil prices are lower as Trump pauses tariff action on Canada and Mexico. Trump’s reversal on tariffs on Columbia, Mexico and Canada are an indication that his actions were done for headlines and are a negotiating tool, however the risks of a trade war remain elevated.

Auto stocks are being hit hard as they play a key role in the automobile supply chains. Canada has already hit back with tariff on U.S goods, Mexico and China have indicated that they will soon be reacting to Trumps tariff action. After the bell today watch for earnings from PLTR, NXPI, CLX & RMBS. The key economic report today is the ISM Manufacturing PMI due out after the opening bell. European markets are falling as Trump indicated that he is planning tariffs on the EU. Oil prices are gaining ahead of this morning announcement and indications that a production hike is not imminent.
