Oliver Anthony of the “Rich Men North Of Richmond Fame” posted a video slamming “Cotton Eyed Joe” for their high ticket prices. Anthony stated that he normally charges fans no more than $40 for tickets to see him perform. The music venue called “Cotton Eyed Joe” in Knoxville responded in a Facebook post. They stated that they reached a deal with Anthony to pay him $120,000 for a 60-minute set. The economics of paying him his fee and then paying staff, taxes, the ticket distribution site, and any other ancillary fee calls for ticket prices in the $90 to $200 range. Cotton Eyed Joe also stated that they would simply break even on that price point.
