Chicago Carjacker Busted Thanks To The GPS Data From His Ankle Monitor – Anthony Brian Logan

A Chicago man was busted for carjacking thanks to the GPS data from his ankle monitor. 30-year-old Keyruni Buford had recently been charged with domestic battery. Instead of simply staying out of trouble until the domestic battery situation was resolved, he allegedly decided to go carjack someone with a friend. The ankle monitor was not the only tool police used to identify Buford’s location. They also tracked the vehicle itself to a nearby McDonald’s. Security camera footage at the McDonald’s shows Buford getting out of the passenger seat of the stolen vehicle. Police also pinged Buford’s phone which placed him at the scene in question.

Buford has an extensive criminal history. He was convicted of robbery in Boystown in 2013. In 2016, he received an eight-year prison sentence for his connection with the aggravated assault of another Boystown resident. He was on parole for the 2013 incident at the time of the 2016 incident.
