DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Leslie was located near latitude 15.0 North, longitude 39.4 West. Leslie is moving toward the northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h) and this general motion is expected to continue over the next few days. Maximum sustained winds remain near 90 mph (150 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast to begin tomorrow and continue through the week. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km).
