DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Leslie was located near latitude 18.4 North, longitude 43.5 West. Leslie is moving toward the northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h) and this general motion is expected to continue over the next couple of days, followed by a turn more northward on Thursday. Maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher gusts. Some additional weakening is forecast during the next several days. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 988 mb (29.18 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
