Donald Trump Jr. has said that the Biden administration’s recent decision to provide military aid to Ukraine is an effort to provoke “World War 3” before his father, Donald Trump, assumes the presidency in January.
On Monday, President Joe Biden, 81, approved the use of American-supplied long-range missiles by Ukraine to strike targets within Russia. This marks a significant shift from his previous strategies, which were focused on reducing tensions in the ongoing conflict.
Trump Jr., 46, took to X, accusing the “military-industrial complex” of escalating the war to create chaos and undermine his father’s presidency.
“The Military Industrial Complex seems to want to make sure they get World War 3 going before my father has a chance to create peace and save lives,” he tweeted. “Gotta lock in those $Trillions. Life be damned!!! Imbeciles!”
The new authorization allows Ukraine to deploy U.S.-made Army Tactical Missile Systems in the Kursk region, which borders northeastern Ukraine and Russia. These missiles, with a range of 190 miles and a powerful blast radius, represent a major upgrade in Ukraine’s arsenal. Following months of lobbying for access to these weapons, Ukraine announced plans to use them within days to counter recent losses on the battlefield.
The war, which began in February 2022 with Russia’s invasion, has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of Ukrainian civilians and devastated the region.
Donald Trump, 78, who won the recent presidential election, has pledged to bring the conflict to an end. After his victory, he held discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“As President Trump has said on the campaign trail, he is the only person who can bring both sides together in order to negotiate peace and work towards ending the war and stopping the killing,” said Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, in a statement to The Post.
Although the president-elect has yet to outline a detailed plan for achieving peace, Trump Jr., who has been closely involved in his father’s political efforts, is playing a significant role in the transition team. He is reportedly helping to shape the administration, including decisions on controversial cabinet appointments.
