Speculation briefly erupted on social media Thursday after ambulances and Secret Service vans were seen leaving Mar-a-Lago. Andrew Feinberg, The Independent’s White House correspondent, initially reported the movement of two ambulances and several vans loaded with Secret Service agents, leading to widespread curiosity.
Moments later, Feinberg provided much-needed clarification. Citing a transition source and the Secret Service, he explained that the ambulances were part of Vice President-elect J.D. Vance’s motorcade. The vehicles were standard components of his security detail, and there was no cause for alarm. Feinberg urged calm, writing, “False alarm. Go about your business.”
“The press has set up a fake, unofficial “pool” because they want to feel important about themselves. In this case, some idiot at CBS overreacted and set off the fire alarm for no reason thinking they were going to get the scoop of a lifetime,” Trump’s advisor Steven Cheung said.
“Andrew we are not tracking any Secret Service directed medical transports from Mar-a-Lago and from our personnel on the ground, there are no issues or concerns with any Secret Service protectees on property. If there is an ambulance it may be an unrelated issue,” Chief of Communications for US Secret Service said.
This incident serves as a reminder of the power of real-time reporting and the need for timely updates in ensuring accurate public understanding. In the end, what seemed like a potential emergency was simply routine security protocol.
