SENATOR MIKE LEE: ‘California’s own leadership hasn’t prepared for fires like this, which is stunning’

Jack Posobiec hosted Senator Mike Lee from Utah on Human Events Daily Wednesday to get his take on how California has been handling the deadly wildfires that broke out Tuesday night after it was revealed that fire equipment was shipped from the state to Ukraine, something which Posobiec called “ridiculous.”

Lee agreed, stating “Government is there to serve the people, not the other way around. It’s certainly not there to serve somebody else half a world away when the government at issue can’t even do its own job and protect its own people,” referring to Ukraine.

He asked viewers to pray for the victims in California who have lost their homes and even lives. Lee then revealed that government leaders in California had not prepared for fires like this, despite the fact that Southern California experiences wildfires frequently. The senator called this “stunning.”

Lee also explained that California leaders have been steadfast on protecting a fish called a Delta smelt which has prohibited water from being supplied to crucial areas in the state. “We’ve got to make sure that the radical environmentalists aren’t sabotaging vital infrastructure like what I’ve just described, and water sources that human beings need to live and thrive. Sure, it’s a nice goal to worry about the Delta smelt, but don’t do it at the expense of actual human beings,” he said.

Posobiec agreed that while most Americans both left and right would enjoy cleaner food, air and water, the focus of the government has to be “putting Americans first.”
