Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec called on Republicans to boycott Hamilton, the hit Broadway musical, after its producers pulled out of a scheduled run at the Kennedy Center. During Thursday’s episode, Posobiec criticized the show’s creators for refusing to perform at the venue now that President Donald Trump has taken over as chair.
“We played a clip during the break, and I thought it was a parody,” Posobiec said. “This is something that we’re supposed to believe is high art when it’s devolution and deconstruction of the founding fathers… This is where the Netflixification of everything started.”
The controversy began after Hamilton canceled its Kennedy Center performance, which was set to be part of the venue’s sesquicentennial celebration in honor of the nation’s 250th birthday. The show’s creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, made it clear that the decision was a direct response to Trump’s leadership at the Kennedy Center.
“We’re not going to be part of it while it’s the Trump Kennedy Center,” Miranda told The New York Times. “The Kennedy Center was not created in this spirit, and we’re not going to be part of it while it is the Trump Kennedy Center. We’re just not going to be part of it.”
Posobiec mocked the reaction from the liberal elites.
“All the liberals in Washington, DC are going to be crying into their avocado toast and soy lattes over this because Hamilton is not going to come and play at DC at the Kennedy Center,” he said.
He then called on conservatives to take action in response.
“Here’s what I’d like to say in response. I tweeted this out yesterday, but you know something? To all the commies that run that program, here’s a flip side of it, by the way. Why don’t we boycott all of Hamilton? So, to any patriot that’s out there right now, to any red-blood-having American, any patriot within the sound of my voice, we are not going to Hamilton. Boycott this thing completely. Not just because they’re giving the middle finger and thumbing their nose to President Trump, because honestly, the show just isn’t really that good.”
Posobiec also pointed out that Hamilton has long been popular among establishment conservatives.
“You wanna know who went to Hamilton? Let me wind back the clock a little bit. Do you remember who went to see Hamilton in the very first week he was in office back in 2017? Mike Pence. Mike Pence Republicans love Hamilton. Mike Pence conservatives love Hamilton.”
He noted that grassroots conservatives were already organizing against the show’s upcoming stops. “One of their next stops is in Houston, and I saw that Houston, Texas Young Republicans have already begun getting the ball rolling on this boycott. This is fantastic,” Posobiec added.
The host made it clear that he doesn’t believe conservatives should support the show at all. “It’s drivel. Patriots should not be attending this. Think of all the better things that you could be doing with your life.”
Meanwhile, Ric Grenell, who was appointed as Interim Executive Director of the Kennedy Center, slammed Miranda’s decision to cancel the show.
“The Arts are for everyone—not just for the people who Lin likes and agrees with,” Grenell posted on X. “The American people need to know that Lin Manuel is intolerant of people who don’t agree with him politically. It’s clear he and [producer Jeffrey] Seller don’t want Republicans going to their shows. Americans see you, Lin.”
