Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec spoke with political strategist Roger Stone, where the two discussed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s controversial meeting with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. The conversation focused specifically on the influences behind Zelensky and whether US officials violated the Logan Act in their dealings with Ukraine.
With the meeting now about a week behind, Posobiec asked Stone whether he had ever seen anything like it at the presidential level and what factors might have led Zelensky to disrespect “the people’s house” in that way.
Stone pointed to former Obama and Biden National Security Advisor Susan Rice, who had publicly stated that the meeting was a “set-up.” While agreeing with her assessment, Stone argued that it was Zelensky himself who attempted to set up Trump.
“There are credible reports that Zelensky met or spoke with former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former Assistant Secretary Victoria Nuland—the architect of the disaster in Ukraine—as well as Susan Rice, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, and Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut, who talked about it on his X feed,” Stone said.
It has since been reported that Zelensky met with Democratic lawmakers before his Oval Office meeting with President Donald Trumpi on Friday, where he reportedly received advice to reject the terms of the proposed mineral deal, according to Chris Murphy (D-CT).
Stone suggested that if these individuals encouraged Zelensky to reject a peace deal or refuse an agreement regarding mineral rights, it could constitute a serious violation of the Logan Act. That law prohibits private citizens from engaging in their own foreign policy.
“Only the president can conduct foreign policy, and contacting foreign leaders to undertake any course other than that which is the official policy of the United States is a serious crime,” Stone explained.
He went on to recall how Joe Biden once attempted to charge General Michael Flynn under the Logan Act for conversations he had with the Russian ambassador when he was named National Security Advisor. However, Stone noted that Flynn never pushed for a specific course of action, which later became evident.
