Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec spoke with Mike Davis from the Article III Project on Thursday, where Davis discussed the potential for federal judge Aileen Cannon to be nominated to the US Supreme Court.
Davis shared his thoughts on Amy Coney Barrett, noting that while she was picked for her gender to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, he felt she was a “qualified pick” but not the best choice.
“She was picked because she’s a woman to replace RBG. She’s a qualified pick, but she wasn’t the best pick,” said Davis. “They looked at her emotionally instead of rationally. She’s not liberal… she’s just kind of incremental in her approach.”
He also described her as “weak” and “scared of her shadow,” adding that “incremental might be a nicer way to put it.” Davis also saying, “I’ve also said she’s a rattled law professor with her head up her ass, that’s what I say when I’m upset.”
Posobiec agreed with Davis, asking what the lessons that can be learned from the situation in choosing judicial nominees. “I do like conservative women and minorities, but we can’t pick them because they’re conservative or minorities. We have to pick them because they’re the best pick, and I don’t think Amy Coney Barrett was the best pick,” said Davis.
The conversation shifted to a hypothetical scenario where Posobiec asked Davis what Trump should consider when choosing a judicial nominee. Davis emphasized the importance of a Supreme Court justice who is “bold” and “fearless” in following the law.
Davis went on to say that President Trump could rely on “people like Mike Davis (himself) and the Article III Project” to find the right pick, mentioning Judge Aileen Cannon as a potential nominee. “I would say she’s one of the best, if not the best, pick for President Trump to put on the Supreme Court. She’s bold, she’s fearless… She stood up to the Democrat mob that tried to threaten her in her home and didn’t back down. Maybe Justice Amy Coney Barrett can take a lesson from that.”
Judge Aileen Cannon is known for presiding over the Biden-Harris DOJ’s prosecution of Donald Trump in the classified documents case. Cannon recently threw out the case, which had been initiated after the FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, suspecting he had classified documents that should have been turned over to the National Archives when he left office after his first term.
