DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Gilma was located near latitude 16.0 North, longitude 119.6 West. Gilma is moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h). A slightly slower motion to the west-northwest is expected during the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Steady strengthening is expected, and Gilma is forecast to become a hurricane by Wednesday night. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).
