S&P Futures are weakening this morning as the markets is now focused on the pending Trump Tariff announcement which is scheduled for April 2nd. Travel stocks are moving lower this morning as London’s Heathrow airport has been closed due to a fire at a nearby electrical substation. President Trump & Defense Secretary are scheduled to speak at 11:00 am this morning. On Sunday, the China Development Forum begins, CEO’s from QCOM, FDX, MA, AVGO, PFE are expected to attend. FDX, NKE & LEN are lower after earnings announcements. Macro uncertainties in the world is likely to be a key theme when earnings season kicks off next month.

S&P Futures just moved from flat to lower. The Fed left rates unchanged. They continue to project two rate cuts this year but warned of an uptick in inflation & unemployed for this year. President Trump is expected to sign an Executive Order today aimed at closing the Dept of Education. Chevron lobbied the president for a two-month extension to his order to shut down its operations in Venezuela. Western European nations are holding discussions to provide Ukraine with a peace keeping force. Jobless Claims are due out before the opening bell, expectations are for a reading of 225k. After the open, Existing Home Sales are due out, a reading of 3.95m is expected. Earnings are in focus today with NKE, FDX, MU & LEN set to report after the bell today.

S&P Futures are trending higher this morning as the market prepares for this afternoon announcement on monetary policy from the Fed. No changes in rates or Dot Plot expectations are likely. President Trump’s pending tariff action remains a key pending factor for the economy which Fed Chairman Powell will likely avoid commenting on during his press conference. President Trump is scheduled to meet with top U.S. oil executives today to discuss boosting domestic energy production. ADSK is higher as Starboard Value is expected to launch a proxy fight. Fitch Ratings lowered its outlook on global growth & raised its inflation expectations for the U.S. SIG is higher after its earnings release this morning. After the bell today, FIVE will report and tomorrow morning ACN, DRI, FDS & JBL are scheduled to report.

S&P Futures are displaying weakness this morning ahead of a host of economic reports, rising geopolitical tensions and the start of the Fed meeting.  Tensions in the Middle East are rising as Isreal launched airstrikes in Gaza this morning. President Trump to speak to Russian’s Putin today on Ukraine war. Putin is demanding a suspension of all weapons deliveries to Ukraine during the proposed ceasefire. Trump’s tariff policies remain rather vague as the administrations is working on its messaging, however tariff are a negative catalyst. Google is said to be continuing its talks with cybersecurity firm Wiz on a potential $30b deal. NVDA conference starts today. ADBE Summit 2025 investors meeting is today after the market closes. TME is higher after its earnings announcement and news of a $1b share buyback.

S&P Futures are negative this morning as markets react to Treasury Secretary Bessent comments about not being concerned about the recent selling pressure in equities.  Bessent’s comments reinforced the view that the Trump administration is unlikely to consider markets reaction to its policy changes. This morning’s key economic release will be the Retail Sales data. Nivida’s GPU Technology conference starts tomorrow. In the week ahead, there is a Federal Reserve monetary policy meeting and Fed officials will be updating their Dot Plot estimates on the forward path of interest rates. President Trump to speak to Russian’s Putin tomorrow on Ukraine war. China is preparing a stimulus announcement. NKE, MU, FDX, ACN FIVE, GIS are all releasing earnings this week.

S&P Futures are showing positive gains this morning due to expectations that a government shut down will be avoided. Senate Majority leader Chuck Shumer announced that he will be backing the bill. The announcement of press briefing in China on Monday has markets expecting stimulus action. President Trump will be at the Justice Dept this afternoon to discuss his agenda. Key economic reading for today will be the Consumer Sentiment data from the Univ of Michigan, the report will contain inflation expectations. ULTA, DOCU & SMTC are higher after releasing positive earnings last night.

President Trump indicated that he would respond to the EU countermeasures. Upcoming market catalysts for next week includes the potential government shut down, NVDA CEO speech and the FOMC meeting. S&P Futures are moving higher this morning after a tumultuous trading session on Tuesday. The Trump administration’s 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports went into effect today. The European Union announced retaliatory tariffs that will start April. CPI data is due out before the opening bell and a softer reading is expected.  TSMC has approached Nvidia and other U.S. chip companies about taking stakes in a joint venture that would operate Intel’s factories. Congress passed a Continuing Resolution bill, Senate approval will prove more difficult. After the bell today, ADBE, CCI PATH, S and AEO will be releasing earnings.

Tariff news continues to dominate the sentiment, markets react negatively to uncertainty and tariff process has been highly chaotic. On the earning front, AVGO, GAP and GWRE are higher after their releases. Earnings reports due out next week include ORCL, KSS, DKS, CASY, ADBE, & ULTA.
