Squad Member Ilhan Omar Wins Reelection in Primary Race
Squad member Rep. Ilhan Omar (R-MN) won her primary race for Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District on Tuesday evening.
Omar received 67,524 votes, or 56.2 percent of the vote, while Don Samuels, a former member of the Minneapolis City Council, received 51,581 votes, or 42.9 percent of the vote, according to the Associated Press (AP).
Another candidate, Abena McKenzie, received 456 votes, or 0.4 percent of the vote, while opponent Nate Schluter received votes 567, or 0.5 percent of the vote.
The Associated Press called the race at 10:39 p.m.
Omar’s win comes after two other Squad members, Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) and Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) lost their primary races.
The Minnesota congresswoman previously narrowly defeated Samuels in the last election cycle. Samuels ended up losing by just over two percent of the vote and received 48.2 percent, while Omar received 50.3 percent.
A poll conducted by Lake Research Partners in July found that Omar had a “sizable lead over Samuels” of 27 points, with Omar receiving 60 percent of support, while Samuels led by 33 percent, according to Newsweek. This poll was conducted on behalf of Omar’s campaign.
Another poll conducted in February by Victoria Research & Consulting, this time on behalf of Samuels campaign, found that Omar received 49 percent of support, while Samuels received 30 percent of support, according to the outlet.
Omar has faced criticism regarding her anti-Israel views. Omar, along with fellow Squad members Bowman and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), are facing a class-action lawsuit and have been accused of “inciting and encouraging” the anti-Israel protests and encampment that occurred at Columbia University in the spring.
The congresswoman has also supported the withholding of artillery and other weapons to Israel.
In February 2023, Omar was ousted from her position on the Foreign Affairs Committee due to her previous derogatory remarks about Jewish people.
Omar will face Republican candidate Dalia Al-Aqidi in November.

Putin, Zelensky blame each other for fire at Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have both blamed each other for a fire that broke out at Europe’s largest nuclear power plant on Sunday.
Kyiv said that Russian forces had started the fire at the Moscow-occupied Zaporizhzhia. However, Zaporizhzhia’s Kremlin-installed governor insisted that Ukrainian artillery was the source of the fire, BBC reports. Ukrainian troops have launched a large-scale invasion across the border into southern Russia’s Kursk region beginning last Tuesday. They have gained control of much of the area as tens of thousands of civilians have been evacuated. The BBC calls it “the deepest and most significant incursion since Moscow began its full-scale invasion in February 2022.”
Yevgeny Balitsky, Zaporizhzhia’s governor, reported on Sunday that there was a fire at the cooling towers of the power plant but urged people to remain “calm” as no radiation spike had been detected around the plant. While he said Ukrainian shelling was to blame, Zelensky accused the Kremlin of purposefully starting the fire to try and “blackmail” Kyiv.
UN nuclear watchdog the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) posted to X: “IAEA experts witnessed strong dark smoke coming from ZNPP’s northern area following multiple explosions heard in the evening. Team was told by ZNPP of an alleged drone attack today on one of the cooling towers located at the site. No impact has been reported for nuclear safety.”
It later stated: “The IAEA team at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhya NPP viewed evidence provided today that continues to indicate that Monday’s fire did not start at the base of the cooling tower.”

Kahn: Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s F*ck You to Save America
In the wake of an historic two-hour conversation between two of the world’s most powerful men, the left’s colossal gaslighting machine is in full effect to minimize its impact.
After all, why should the right have any platform at all? What’s the threat exactly? The left has most of the media, Big tech, Hollywood, academia, woke corporations, and unprecedented donor money in their pockets, but those pockets aren’t full enough for them. As long as the right has something to put in theirs, the left’s pockets may as well be empty.
What bothers them so much? Is it simply fear that if Americans have access to conservative ideas, they will choose them? There’s a case to be made for that. Or is it something deeper than that?
Maybe it’s something less tangible that Donald Trump and Elon Musk represent. It was just a conversation … a conversation that neither man needed to have.
Prior to either man’s entrance into the political arena, it would be safe to say it was accepted that both were considered visionaries in their respective fields. But upon their entrances, both were faced with a collective hate that would prove intolerable to most anyone.
So, why do they continue? Why are they talking? If you’re Donald Trump, why would you face two impeachments, censorship unlike anything we’ve ever seen, criminal accusations, lawfare, a conviction designed only for the sake of branding you with a conviction, and what the media has quickly buried, an assassin’s bullet?
And if you’re Elon Musk, why would you subject yourself to the anti-free speech arbiters, from advertisers to the EU, hellbent on your destruction? Why when you are attempting to change the world through so many innovative ventures, would you make a choice that would pit half that world against you?
Andrew Breitbart said at a speech in Nashville over a decade ago that the establishment media has “disdain” for the American people…the implication being that media elites feel they know what’s better for us. Now throw in the tech overlords controlling access to information and that disdain is magnified exponentially. They all know the best version of America for all of us.
Well, guess what? Donald Trump and Elon Musk say fuck you and they’ve sacrificed lives that only exist in dreams in order to say it. Who in the world would face this kind of hate and opposition on purpose? Two people who have a different opinion as to what the best version of America is.
So, what bothers them so much about a conversation between these two men? Is it simply fear that if Americans have access to conservative ideas, they will choose them? There’s a case to be made for that. Or is it something deeper than that?
Maybe it’s a passion they don’t recognize. Or a fearlessness they can’t comprehend. Maybe it’s sacrifice they aren’t willing to make.
But in fairness to the left, they have made sacrifices. They’ve sacrificed honesty… tolerance… and individuality.

JACK POSOBIEC and KENNY CODY: Tim Walz is ‘no country boy’
Jack Posobiec hosted Human Events columnist Kenny Cody on Tuesday’s episode of Human Events Daily during which Cody called the Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz a “fake country boy.”
Posobiec and his guest began by pointing out all the ways Democratic Presidential nominee Kamala Harris has been “fake,” even deeming her a “chameleon” due to her changes of stance and identity as a career politician.
The pair then turned their focus to Walz, specifically the allegations of “stolen valor” after he claimed to have served in armed combat when in reality he was deployed to Italy.
“Yeah, I don’t think Kamala Harris could have chosen any better running mate for her inauthenticity than Tim Walz,” Cody said, adding that Walz has lied about being “in the trenches” and has been portraying himself in camo hats and hunting attire to try and cast an image of him being an “everyday man, when he is nothing but somebody who is a liar and a chameleon that uses in the same way that Kamala Harris uses her racial identity and her, you know, appeal as a moderate, Tim Walz appropriates rural Rust Belt culture.”
“He is appropriating that and his military service, I couldn’t think of a more unagreeable sort of candidate that was going to come across to rural white American voters than Tim Walz is going to end up being. I mean, he is as unappealable as they come because he is fake.”
Cody noted that Walz is essentially trying to appeal to the exact demographic that will “reject him for being a liar, going to reject him from embracing Stolen Valor,” adding that he has been trying to win over hunters and the “outdoor, everyday Carhartt wearing man.”
“I am from rural Appalachia, okay, we know a fake hunter and a fake country boy when we see one and Tim Walz is among the fakest that I have ever witnessed,” Cody said. “Tim Walz is as fake as Kamala is only for the wrong appeal to rural voters in the Rust Belt.” He later added, “I know a country when I see one, and he is no country boy.”

Biden-Harris admin offers amnesty to Nicolas Maduro if he gives up Venezuelan presidency
The Biden-Harris administration is reportedly offering amnesty to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro if he relinquishes power.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the White House has discussed pardons for Maduro and other government officials who have been indicted by the US Department of Justice.
Unnamed sources claimed that the Biden-Harris administration is willing to“put everything on the table” to convince Maduro to leave office before his presidential term is over in January 2025. The US has accused Maduro of plotting with Venezuelan drug kingpins to send vast quantities of cocaine to the US.
However, a Reuters report says the US has not offered any amnesty deal to Maduro. White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre denied any amnesty was offered during a briefing on Monday, saying there have been no offers since the election.
“Since the July 28 elections, we have not made any specific offers of amnesty to Maduro or others,” Jean-Pierre said. “What I can speak to is, since the election, we have just not made that type of offer.”
But the WSJ quotes sources that identify talks between Jorge Rodríguez, president of Venezuela’s congress and a Maduro confidant, and Daniel P. Erikson, an American policy expert on Venezuela, who serves with the National Security Council. Western oil companies would also be allowed to stay in Venezuela.
The Biden-Harris administration has maintained that the Venezuelan presidential election was rigged and that opposition leader Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia actually won. Elon Musk accepted an invitation from Elon Musk to have a televised live fight.

BREAKING: EU says Thierry Breton went rogue in sending threatening letter to Elon Musk over Trump interview
An EU spokesperson said on Tuesday that a letter sent by internal market commissioner Thierry Breton warning Elon Musk against hosting an interview with former US President Donald Trump was not approved by the commission president Ursula von der Leyen.
“I was wondering if the letter has been agreed or coordinated with President von der Leyen and if so if you were aware of this letter sent before a couple of hours before the live event?” a reporter asked.
“Thank you Valentina,” an EU commission spokeswoman said. “What the commissioner has represented in the letter is a general concern as I was saying, by pointing out the rules that have to be complied with by very large platforms under the European Digitial Services Act. For what concerns the letter specifically, the timing and the wording of the letter, were neither coordinated nor agreed with the president nor with the college of the commission.”
This clarification follows Breton’s Monday letter which attempted to warn Musk against the planned interview he had scheduled on X Spaces with the current presidential candidate Trump. The two had a wide-ranging discussion on everything from artificial intelligence to energy to the US economy.
Breton’s letter sought to remind Musk of his EU-regulated responsibility to prevent “harmful content” from spreading on the platform. In defense of his warning, Breton cited recent civil unrest in England which erupted after three school girls were stabbed by the son of Rwandan immigrants. This led to rioting among the English who protested against lenient migration policies in the nation.
“I am compelled to remind you of the due diligence obligations set out in the Digital Services Act (DSA),” Breton said, “as outlined in my previous letter. As the individual entity ultimately controlling a platform with over 300 million users worldwide, of which one third in the EU, that has been designated as a Very Large Online Platform, you have the legal obligation to ensure X’s compliance with EU law and in particular the DSA in the EU.”
“This notably means ensuring, on one hand, that freedom of expression and of information, including media freedom and pluralism, are effectively protected and, on the other hand, that all proportionate and effective mitigation measures are put in place regarding the amplification of harmful content in connection with relevant events, including live streaming, which, if unaddressed, might increase the risk profile of X and generate detrimental effects on civic discourse and public security,” said Breton.
An EU official who spoke to the Financial Times said “Thierry has his own mind and way of working and thinking.”
Musk responded to the letter, as did X CEO Linda Yaccarino. Musk jokingly said “To be honest, I really wanted to respond with this Tropic Thunder meme, but I would NEVER do something so rude & irresponsible!”
Yaccarino said “This is an unprecedented attempt to stretch a law intended to apply in Europe to political activities in the US. It also patronizes European citizens, suggesting they are incapable of listening to a conversation and drawing their own conclusions.”
Musk extended an invitation to Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris, as well, who has not yet responded to that ask.

Sinaloa cartel flies explosive drones near Arizona border to drop bombs on rival Los Salazar gang
Mexican drug cartels have been warring with each other by using drones to drop bombs on competitors. Members of Los Salazar, connected to the infamous Mexican Sinaloa cartel have been flying just south of Arizona in order to attack Los Pelones, a rival cartel. Senate lawmakers are concerned about drones operating over US airspace and are seeking legislation to keep them out, the New York Post reports.
The bombing and inter-cartel rivalry has been centered in Sonoyta, Mexico, according to information released Tuesday by the US Border Patrol’s Yuma Sector Intelligence Unit. “Other confrontations between these two organizations have occurred along the border,” the Border Patrol bulletin adds.
A drug kingpin connected to the Sinaloa cartel was recently arrested in Oregon. And cartel drones are increasingly passing over American airspace – more than 1,000 a month according to Gen. Gregory Guillot, the commander of North American Defense Command and US Northern Command.
“I don’t know the actual number — I don’t think anybody does — but it’s in the thousands,” Guillot told a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing. “We … probably have over 1,000 a month.”
Mexican cartels, long identified for their iron grip on the drug trade and human trafficking, have invaded every sector of the Mexican economy.
Senate Republicans aren’t certain that the Department of Defense has a plan to counter the growing drone threat. The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is responsible for monitoring and securing all North American airspace.
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IW) wants to amend the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act to compel the Pentagon to meet the threat of drones and other unmanned aircraft systems entering US airspace. “On Border Czar Kamala Harris’ watch, murderous drug cartels are controlling the southern border and using drones for turf war attacks within miles of the United States,” Ernst told The Post. “These thugs must be held accountable. That’s why I’m equipping the Pentagon to respond to these incursions by any means necessary.”
The legislation would create a Counter Unmanned Aviation Systems (CUAS) task force.
In 2023, Customs and Border Protection cited drones as the means by which human traffickers could determine the position of border patrol agents. The Mexican army has admitted that soldiers have been killed by cartel drone bombs in Michoacán, Mexico – about 1,000 miles away from the US border. Residents in Michoacan, where the Jalisco drug cartel is fighting for control, said the attacks from the explosive drones are happening on a daily basis.

Exclusive — Donald Trump: Kamala Harris Will Not Sit with Any Real Journalists, Only ‘a Soft Democrat Interview’
PALM BEACH, Florida — Former President Donald Trump told Breitbart News that his general election opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, will not agree to an actual real interview at all during the campaign, only “a soft Democrat interview” with someone like ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.
Asked during an hourlong interview at his luxurious seaside resort and club Mar-a-Lago to react to Harris telling reporters that she would schedule an interview by the end of August, Trump said she would only sit down with someone who would ask her easy questions and not someone who would press her on the issues for real.
Trump compared it to how post-debate outgoing Democrat President Joe Biden went to Stephanopoulos — whom Trump calls “Slapadopoulos” — for an easy interview. Stephanopoulos, before he went to work for ABC, of course, worked as a top adviser for former President Bill Clinton, a Democrat.
“She’ll go to a soft Democrat interview like Biden did — he went to Slapadopoulos,” Trump said. “That was the softest interview. I saw him go after Byron Donalds, who’s fantastic. It was vicious the way he went after him. Byron handled it like a fly on your back, just shoved him aside — Byron is very good. Did you see that interview? The viciousness and the way he handled Biden — it was like he was trying to answer the questions for him.”
Harris has done zero interviews since she became the presumptive Democrat nominee for president after Biden’s exit from the race. She has also only agreed to one debate, which is going to be on ABC News — though Trump has agreed to that one and two others, one on Fox News and another on NBC News.
Trump, though, told Breitbart News that he doubts Harris even wants to do one debate.
“She doesn’t want to do one debate, either,” Trump said.

Zelensky begs UK for missiles to fire at Russian forces—UK refuses
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been begging the UK and Western allies to allow the use of their missiles to strike Russian forces, which he has claimed will end the reign of Russian President Vladimir Putin amid an ongoing cross-border attack initiated by Zelensky’s forces.
The Telegraph reports that his army was in control of a portion of the southern Russian Kursk region along the border by Monday night, per Kyiv’s top general. Zelensky stated that he was again urging Western allies to allow his use of long-range missiles to strike deep inside Russia.
He stated, according to the outlet, that he had ordered defence officials and diplomats to “present a list of necessary actions on our part to obtain permission from our partners to use long-range weapons to defend our territory.”
However the UK has not granted approval for Ukraine to use its Storm Shadow missiles as part of the Kursk offensive and has no plans of doing so. A spokesman for the UK government said, “There has been no change in the UK’s position. We have been providing military aid to support Ukraine’s clear right of self-defence against Russia’s illegal attacks in accordance with international humanitarian law. We are clear that equipment provided by the UK is intended for the defence of Ukraine.”
Zelensky made it clear that he believes the cross-border Kursk offensive will drive Putin out of office. He stated that the “Kursk disaster” during which 118 Russian sailors died in a submarine accident 24 years ago marked the beginning of Putin’s reign. “And now it is clear this is the end for him,” he said. “And it is also Kursk.”

Donald Trump Tells Elon Musk: Americans ‘Want the American Dream Back’
Americans want their government to help revive the American Dream that helped the Baby Boomers, Donald Trump told Elon Musk in their August 12 conversation on X.
“It’s about the American dream,” Trump told Musk. “You don’t hear about the American dream anymore, Elon, you’re the American Dream in the truest sense, but you don’t hear about the American dream anymore.

The American Dream hope for the future is rarely mentioned in the post-1990 government policy of enforced migration and chaotic diversity, slack wages, slumping living standards, and high housing costs.
The idea emerged in the early 1930s and then blossomed in the post-war prosperity made possible by low migration and rising productivity. Trump was born in 1946, so he grew up with the American Dream expectation of everyday prosperity.
The term was invented by American writer and historian James Truslow Adams, who described it as:
That dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement … It is not a dream of motor cars and high wages merely, but a dream of social order in which each man and each woman shall be able to attain to the fullest stature of which they are innately capable, and be recognized by others for what they are, regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or position.
The American Dream explainer echoed Trump’s August 7 comments on common sense and the downward slide of Americans’ confidence and expectations:
People want safety. They want security. They want respect all around the world for our country. They don’t want this horrible culture that is developing — a culture of no common sense [emphasis added]. It’s really a culture of no common sense, and it’s not what anyone wants.
…
We want to have a safe country. We want to have a strong military. We want low interest rates, and we want to be able to have the American Dream. We want to be able to have our youth be able to buy homes, housing, get good jobs, and we’re really just at the opposite right now. So it’s so sad to see … [Harris has] been the worst border czar in history … [and] 20 million people came over the border during the Biden-Harris administration … Now you have people dying financially because they can’t buy bacon, they can’t buy food, they can’t buy groceries, they can’t do anything, and they’re living horribly in our country right now.
The dream of American prosperity and growth survived in many foreign countries while it was furiously attacked in the United States by business-backed progressives. They used their influence in U.S. K-12 schools and universities to push the alternative government-centered vision of civil rights and diversities in a “nation of immigrants.” This shift is exemplified by the establishment’s current celebration of illegal migrants as “Dreamers.”
Musk, who was born in South Africa in 1971, grew up with the expectation of an American Dream. “It always seemed like when there was cool technology or things happening, it was kind of in the United States,” Musk told an interviewer in 2012. “So, my goal as a kid was to get to get to America.”
Americans “want the American Dream back,” Musk told Trump:
People in America wanna feel excited and inspired about the future. They want to feel like the future is going be better than the past, and that America is going do things that are greater than we’ve done in the past, [to] reach new heights that make you proud to be an American and excited about the future.
Trump explained how he would try to restore the American Dream:
We’re going to give incentive to companies to come into our country, not to leave our country. We’re going to be giving tremendous incentives. We want companies to build here, not to build in other locations, and we want to create jobs.
…
People, they need that incentive to go out and do it and they’re going to love their lives. I mean, they’re going to look forward to getting up in the morning and going to a job that they love, not a job that they can’t stand, or not any job at all where they have no money, where they literally have no money.
Americans’ prosperity grew rapidly after World War II, often allowing the Baby Boomer generation’s families to have several children and a decent house on a single income.
But wage growth stalled after Congress restarted immigration in 1965 and doubled it in 1990. The wealth shift was accelerated as high-productivity manufacturing jobs were exported from the 1990s, ensuring that younger American families got a smaller and smaller share of the nation’s new wealth compared to their Baby Boomer parents and politicians.
Trump slowed the process from 1916 to 1920, allowing wages to rise.
But the establishment turbocharged the process by helping elect President Joe Biden in 2020. Since 2021, Biden’s border chief accepted 10 million migrants in just three years, with the tacit approval of Vice President Kamala Harris. The ruthless policy of extraction migration fueled inflation, spiked housing costs, and stalled wages as it also shifted wealth to CEOs, older investors, and the Baby Boom generation.
